With the Brighton service ending, and thinking of Bath Spa, the longest distance train to serve the station may now be the late evening service which runs to Plymouth at around 125 miles - though possibly that is very much the same distance as the train to Brighton.

Before that too ceased running, the 08:57 Penzance service had a claim to being the longest distance train, as that will be over 200 miles - a figure which would have been eclipsed though by the early morning Crosscountry train to Edinburgh and Glasgow (which I think outlasted the Penzance service, but was then a victim of Covid).

You could also do a list of destinations Bath has lost over the past 20+ years:

Brighton
Edinburgh
Liverpool
Maesteg*
Manchester
Pembroke Dock
Penzance
Waterloo

Can anyone think of any others I might have missed?

*Yes, Maesteg. Summer Saturday afternoon service from Weymouth.

There was a Haverfordwest to Brighton train that called 30 years ago

Like a through train service at an intermediate station, this thread serves two directions - back in time, where the book is already written and the page turned, and forward in time - that chapter is not yet written (and for the present, the DfT» (Department for Transport - about) and the treasury have control of the pen, the ink and the paper).
