Public Transport: and there's your problem

Writing to an, ahem, transport authority in the south west, I'd raised the point that because of changed service patterns post-covid, a particular bus service is a much worse fit with the travel needs of the people it serves, and an quick response was forthcoming, tho' for my eyes only, that this was a a matter for the bus company rather than the transport authority - and helpfully provided their contact details.

Less helpfully, the bus company's web contact form turns out not to provide the opportunity for them to respond, and having had cause to call their public phone number in the past, that's not an experience I'd like to repeat. There's always the postal address I suppose.

Returning to the transport authority, the rest of their response suggests either that they are without agency or that their head is not in the right place, I'm struggling to put my finger on the issue when they state:

"Regarding your last point, demand for buses is highest at the peak times of about 7-9am and 4-6pm, due to people travelling to and from school or work. As there are fewer passengers at night, higher frequencies are not needed to satisfy demand. Bus operators want as many passengers as possible, so they put the most buses on the busiest routes, at the busiest times, as you would expect."
