RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers) members working for First Bus in Cornwall and Somerset are taking strike action on October 10th & 21st and November 4th & 11th
Let's hope their railway colleagues don't take action on the same days..

Statement from Buses of Somerset:

Quote
Strike Action by RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers) : Monday 10 October

We can confirm that 227 RMT members out of our staff of 650 operating Buses of Somerset and Cornwall by Kernow routes have voted to take industrial action following recent pay offer discussions.

Therefore, there is likely to be a very limited service (both network & Taunton Park & Ride) operating this coming Monday 10th October, with no guaranteed journeys. In light of this we advise that our customers seek alternatives where possible.

With regards to School & College services, please keep checking our website and Twitter pages for up-to-date information.

We apologise sincerely to all our customers for the inconvenience this will cause. We are doing everything possible to operate what services we can.

At first sight the figures seems wrong - 227 members out of 650 staff.
But, I'm not a RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime & Transport Workers) member, I'm in a different union.
In my 'section' there are 3 out of 22 not in any union & I believe 1 in a different one.
Multiply that up and it becomes apparent that the figures aren't as bad as initially seems.

Shockingly poor information from Buses of Somerset on what they're actually running today.

They recently tweeted a reply to a customer asking about the 28 between Taunton and Minehead, telling her it wasn't running. The FirstBus app bus tracker shows three buses currently on the route. Moving and with changing passenger loads, so definitely running.

The BoS website has no information on what's happening in reality. I've tracked the X10, 28, 58 and 77 all running. Just one tweet at 0730 mentioning the X10 and 58 as running, but with other tweets directing you to the BoS website where there's zero mention of the ACTUAL services running.

If a depot has found drivers and sent out buses then surely they can also contact the social media and website teams to tell them they are running certain services.

First Kernow is a bit better for info. It lists the Truro P&R (Park and Ride) is operating normally along with school buses and one trip on the Lands End coaster at school times. No other services will run.

The other operators, Hopleys, Go Cornwall, OTS etc are unaffected and appear to be running ok.

May I ask what OTS stands for?
Oates Travel Service (based in St Ives).
https://oatestravel.co.uk/
Also run out of Falmouth for the those TfC services (Travel for Cornwall).
