From the FGW (First Great Western) website :

10:05 London Paddington to Penzance due 15:12
This train has been revised. It will additionally call at: Lostwithiel. This is due to an earlier train fault.

12:44 Plymouth to Penzance due 14:41
This train will be terminated at Truro. It will no longer call at: Redruth, Camborne, St Erth and Penzance. This is due to an earlier train fault.

14:50 Penzance to Plymouth due 16:55
This train will be started from Truro. It will no longer call at: Penzance, St Erth, Hayle, Camborne and Redruth. This is due to an earlier train fault.

On the minus side, this leaves a 5-hour gap in eastbound services for Hayle, and a 2-hour gap in eastbound services for Penzance, St Erth, Camborne and Redruth. On the plus side, Lostwithiel gains an extra westbound stop.

Yes, good news for Lostwithiel pasengers.

Not so good for Saltash and St Germans passengers who had to watch a service go past, or those that had to wait in Plymouth watching a service leave us behind. But even worse for those waiting who were travelling beyond Truro!

There were at least two at Saltash, one needing to make a connection to the Isles of Scilly. I told him to make sure they organised a taxi from Truro.

The late running 1244, should have run empty in front of the HST (High Speed Train) (it could ahve left Plymouth at 1305) until it had caught up, so that it could at least do the return leg back to Plymouth. The following HST should have made extra stops at Saltash, St Germans and Lostwithiel. Then everyone would have made there destinations, just a little late.

I am also concerned about Saltash and St Germans passengers waiting to catch the 1450 from Penzance to Plymouth. Will the following service stop at these two stations?

Brake release fault on 150234 while working the 05:31 BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)) to PNZ caused this, 08:28 PLY» (Plymouth - next trains) to NQY (Newquay (Station)) left Plymouth first with 150234 26 late leaving Saltash thus delaying its back working 10:36 ex PNZ and 12:44 ex PLY etc etc..

Yes, good news for Lostwithiel pasengers.

And nearly very bad news for the 30 or so going to Newquay who nearly missed their connection thanks to the extra stop! Thankfully the connection was made but only two people picked up from Lostwithiel both of which were going to St Austell so a pointless extra stop.

Thanks SPM (St Philip's Marsh (Bristol depot)) for giving us a refurb 150, shame it doesn't work!
