12:17 Westbury to Swindon due 12:59

12:17 Westbury to Swindon due 12:59 will be starting late from Westbury and is expected to be 10 minutes late.
This is due to train crew being delayed.

Again a relatively minor issue.

Station overruns or stop short incidents usually happen a couple of dozen times a year over the network.  There aren’t usually any consequences for passengers other than a delay of the sort in the incident above.

This time of year, overruns due to railhead contamination are especially common.

I note "usually" but an reminded of the consequences of the overrun at Salisbury Tunnel a couple of years ago. Of course, no way of knowing whether there is any similarity.

Yesterday's cancellations re-instated; they disappeared from the cancellation list at around 5 p.m. and in the end all services through the day ran with nothing delayed by more than 10 minutes.  Provided that no connections were lost, that's 100% record as far as I am concerned.  Good.  But do we have the correct method and mix for sourcing resources to run that 100% service and for flagging up any issues that arise?   What custom and goodwill are lost with the published flakey-ness, even if the train runs in the end?

I wonder if today's will be re-instated.  Sorry to hear of the driver being taken ill (and get well soon) - how many drivers do GWR (Great Western Railway) have to be able to call in another ...

I wouldn't imagine many if any non-rail-enthusiasts (you know who you are) spend all day checking their train service until around an hour or so before setting out. If it's showing as cancelled that close to departure then pretty much all good will would be lost - much before & very little. IMHO (in my humble opinion) of corse.

That all depends on their route knowledge, doesn't it? And the number of 'spares' at a depot.

Given the 18:27 from Frome is just approaching Swindon it looks like they were both reinstated.

Yes, I think they were ... disappeared off the disruption map between an hour and two ago - thought I had posted but probably got swept away in other things going on.  Anyone's guess as to how much traffic would have been lost.

8 late off Swindon
On time off Westbury
