IET (Intercity Express Train) on the Berks & Hants developed a fault east of Pewsey and had to proceed at 10 miles an hour to Newbury - taking two hours to do it.

If you are travelling from an unstaffed station please use the Customer Help Point or contact National Rail Enquiries on 03457 484 950 detailing the total number of passengers in your party and your intended destination.

If your ticketed route is 'via Melksham' you may travel via Bath Spa this morning.

Additional Information

If you are at Swindon or Chippenham travelling to Trowbridge or Westbury you should travel on the 09:11 Taunton service from Swindon (09:22 from Chippenham) and change at Bath Spa for the 09:51 service towards Weymouth which calls at Trowbridge (10:13) and Westbury (10:20).

If you are travelling to Melksham you should change at Chippenham and speak to station staff.

If you are at Melksham we will provide road transport to Trowbridge and Westbury from the station car park.

Following engineering works not being finished on time at Westbury all lines have now reopened. Disruption is expected until 10:30 26/03.
Train services between Westbury and Swindon via Melksham may be delayed.

Also to note the first train from Chippenham to Westbury did not run this morning.  Depending who you believe (or possibly a combination of the two) over running engineering work and/or no guard.

Cancellations to services between Chippenham and Trowbridge via Melksham
Due to a points failure between Chippenham and Bristol Temple Meads trains have to run at reduced speed on the line towards Bristol Temple Meads. Disruption is expected until 15:00 27/03.
Train services between Chippenham and Trowbridge via Melksham may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

I am going to take a look back at the end of the day ... summarise what actually ran.   Thanks everyone for keeping the updates going while I'm away - one of the really great things about the Coffee Shop is community and I deeply enjoy it here and being part of it.

The axle counters failed at Thingley Junction.  However they have been repaired and reset in time for the 16:25 to run booked route and serve Melksham.
