From The Bucks Examiner

Quote
A new "underground" station at Hollow Way Lane will be opened between Chalfont amd Latimer and Chesham on the Metropolitain line in early 2025. This is currently the longest stretch of the underground between stations, and for health and saftey reasons an intermediate location is required for the emegency evaculation of passengers in the event of landslides on the 4th rail railway.  A local consultation will determine whether passenger trains will regularly call at the location, or on request during daylight hours only, or whether it will be a limited service station with trains calling once a week for training and parliamentary purposes.

I understand this is part of a wider plan with the ultimate goal of making sure there is a station at least every three miles, for evacuation purposes.

A serious plan is due to be announced this very morning to reinstate Gloucester Eastgate station.  To counter objections that the line will need several level crossings that will delay road traffic, and to encourage walking as a green form of transport, the whole of Gloucester will be pedestrianised, and footbridges over the reopened line will be provided.
