With the line from Exeter St Davids to Exmouth closed for major engineering works on Sunday, 8th October 2023, opportunity was taken to run Okehampton to Exeter St Davids services through to Paignton.

The Okehampton line service being revised on Suns 8 and 15 Oct and incorporating some of the Exeter St D to Paignton services, has been done without any thought of the suitability to passengers with connections at Okehampton stn  into and out of Rail Link bus services 118 Tavistock and 6 Bude.

Going back into the mists of time, First Kernow was asked to time Redruth station arrivals with certain train arrivals, or to delay departure if possible.
Drivers were never told this on their duty boards, so there were no connections made.

Coming forward there were muttings from the Council for connecting bus services to wait for each other, but they rarely did (traffic delays, driver shortage, vehicle breakdowns).
An admirable aspiration, but where running in Cornish summer traffic on rural roads is involved, the timings all go to pot.

Rail / Bus connections are one of the more difficult parts of transport planning.    I feel a thesis-length post coming on ...

The Redruth example was the “Helston branch line” connection. The railway was selling through tickets so the railway was contractually required to ensure the service was available to those passengers.
Similar tickets were available via st Austell for mevagissey and Bodmin for padstow
