And speaking with the TM‡ who came through, he recons the 19:32 should be fine because they leave this train in the sidings all day but "check back at 17:30".
. The unit did indeed spend the day in the sidings and came out to work the 18:45 to Bristol Temple Meads. It took over from a cancelled incoming service from Gloucester.

18:11 Castle Cary to Swindon due 19:34
18:11 Castle Cary to Swindon due 19:34 will be started from Westbury. It will no longer call at Castle Cary, Bruton and Frome. This is due to a shortage of train crew.

She suspects re-instated and is phoning control.
Would be interesting to have a Q&A session with a control manager. What are their rules and remit. Who decides to hold a train/who decides to cancel, etc Then how that information gets pumped out to "everyone else" in a prompt, accurate and consistent fashion.

13:42 Swindon to Weymouth due 15:57 has been delayed at Frome and is now 29 minutes late. This is due to a fault on this train.

Close: it was Coffee Shop forum member 'insider'. He worked in Control and posted some brilliant background information in the early days of this forum. However, he then moved into another role with a more 'legal' background, and decided it would no longer be appropriate to post on a public forum. CfN. 05:11 Gloucester to Southampton Central due 08:07
05:11 Gloucester to Southampton Central due 08:07 will be terminated at Westbury. It will no longer call at Dilton Marsh, Warminster, Salisbury, Romsey and Southampton Central. This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time. I wondered this morning about the JourneyCheck feed - whether it was working in to our disruption map, because the map was clear of any changes at all, and that is a very rare event. Rather sadly, yet with a veneer or relief, a short run and a cancellation have come up - and I'm not surprised that it's a train through Melksham that is short running.

Two ‘ins(c)iders’ gone…one just about still clinging on! I do want to come back on this and add, firstly, my continuing appreciation of those members who through the forum's posts or in other ways help keep the informed passenger informed. Information from a very wide variety of sources - including and highlighting from those employed by the railway - fertilised the roots of this forum which feeds our branches and beyond there where we interact with others outside the Coffee Shop. As a "for example" I was on the platform at Keynsham yesterday and reading the departure board, with the knowledge learned here about what "delayed" tells us, able to chat informally with delayed passengers concerned about their friends picking them up at Freshford ... just an example. I usually say "Thank You" to the train driver of the Westbury train at Melksham as I observe the numbers getting off, but many industry roles are not customer facing and the people who choose those roles are not those who enjoy wide and sometimes challenging interaction. So I have an especial appreciation here of the very small proportion of backroom people who keep us informed - it is a far higher number than may be apparent, but it is not high. And it's incumbent - an unwritten guildeline, if you like, on members as they become more senior on the Coffee Shop to post in a way supportive of those insiders and their voluntary and appreciative of what they tell us, in a proportion of cases told to us not to the wholehearted appreciation of some of their managers. Very, very important stuff - probably enough written on the public TransWilts thread but very much in the minds of the moderator and admin team.

Two ‘ins(c)iders’ gone…one just about still clinging on! Thanks for posting, IndustryInsider. I would really like to see all three 'incider', 'insider' and 'IndustryInsider' members here, continuing to post so much useful information on the Coffee Shop forum. It is really helpful to our readers, and it is appreciated - I know, I get feedback! CfN.

I would agree, Chris, but like to add a very strong "Thank you" to other staff members, some of whom are not obviously staff, others who post only occasionally and yet more in both of those categories. Your inputs, and sometimes they are to help us in the team rather than direct posts, are also so valuable.

Thanks for flagging that - I'm out and about this morning and there's one I need to work around. Will be interesting to see if the 15:13 from Swindon back to Westbury also gets cancelled
