With the following rammed full 1W30 1523 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street service held at Oxford for 16 minutes. Just what's needed when temperatures are struggling to get above freezing.
The 15:23 was then held at Evesham (+40), arrived Foegate St +48 and was cancelled thereafter.

The return working, 1P42 19:05 Great Malvern to London Paddington was started from Worcester Foregate Street, was held at Norton and Charlbury (+16), was delayed near Stockley Junction and arrived Paddington +48.

The following 1P44 1945 Great Malvern to London Paddington was delayed likewise and arrived +32.

Friday November 29

Not a good start. The 05:23 Hereford was cancelled yesterday evening. To that we have to add

Quote
07:13 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 09:42 will be cancelled.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

08:15 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington due 10:23 will be terminated at Didcot Parkway.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.
Will be formed of 3 coaches instead of 5.

The 08:15 change follows from

But someone in Control has done a crafty move with the stock. Looking in detail at RTT» (Real Time Trains - website), the stock has been "stolen" from

From Shrub Hill towards Oxford, this leaves
05:14 - 9 cars
06:43 - 9 cars
07:00 halts train - 2 cars
08:15 - 3 cars
09:15 - 9 cars

'Heavy rain flooding the railway' is perhaps understandable - Storm Bert and all that.  Roll Eyes

But such a litany of 'cancellation due to a shortage of train crew' shows that GWR (Great Western Railway) are now merely providing a 'Monday to Friday' train service.  Sad

CfN.  Lips sealed

And even the provision of a Monday to Friday "service" seems to be becoming a struggle for GWR

Alterations to services between Evesham and Worcester Shrub Hill
Following a fault with the signalling system between Evesham and Worcester Shrub Hill all lines have now reopened.
Train services running through these stations are returning to normal but some services may still be delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 13:30 29/11.

Quote

Meanwhile, unreported on Journeycheck, 1P26 1059 Great Malvern to London Paddington was held at Shrub Hill but has now departed +51. Holding at Shrub Hill is good. It means that alternatives are still possible - sending the train round by Stroud or decanting all the passengers into a coach. But it does block one of the two platforms.

And the following 1P28 11:57 Great Malvern to London Paddington was started from Worcester Shrub Hill  (+24).

A couple of short-formations this evening which will impact upon peak up services tomorrow morning:

Quote
Facilities on the 19:53 London Paddington to Hereford due 22:58.
Will be formed of 5 coaches instead of 9. There are no reservations on this service

Facilities on the 21:53 London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill due 00:01.
Will be formed of 5 coaches instead of 9. There are no reservations on this service

which seem to make up the stock for the next morning's 0523 Hereford to London Paddington and 0643 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington services.

Overnight, someone has swapped the next-day workings at Shrub Hill -
the 5-car set is on 1P11 0514 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington (07:24), and
a 9-car set on 1P16 0643 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington (08:44).

But it still means that three of the first four London trains from Worcester to Oxford are five cars instead of nine.

And none of this is reported in the 'Formations' section of JourneyCheck.
