Today I had an appointment in Bath. I booked an Off Peak Day Return on line, from Warminster (on GWR (Great Western Railway) website). The e tickets arrived on my 'phone with no QR (QR Code - Quick Response code) code on them, so I copied the details of the ticket/booking from my account on the GWR website to my 'phone (just in case - were valid tickets or not ??) - neither did I receive the usual confirmatory email from GWR.

Later:- Because of multiple train cancellations today I then managed to move my appointment to another day. I go into the main GWR website to get a refund on my tickets........appears to go through OK (- £5 admin fee), then I am instantly transferred to the GWR refund/delay repay portal. This tells me that my ticket is not refundable and additionally, that I am now outside the 28 day period to claim delay repay !

I head back to the main GWR website where I am told that the status of this ticket/booking is "awaiting refund". This was followed by an email telling me that my refund is being processed.

My brain hurts  !! ............. why is nothing simple any more ??

Yup, their site said that to me too, think it does to everyone at the moment.

£5 admin should not apply if you decide not to travel due to cancellations, how the GWR (Great Western Railway) website implements that (or if it does at all) I don't know.

Indeed. Should be a full refund. Once you get the refund, check the amoint and if it's £5 shy email GWR (Great Western Railway) asking for the balance.

I did note that at one stage I was asked to give a reason for the refund request, assumed that the £5 admin fee reference was a "catch all" statement for other unspecified reasons.

Out of curiosity (or masochism ?) I have just had a look to see how my journey would have been today - 9 passenger train cancellations showing so far, and only mid-afternoon !

I am left wondering about this one :-
