Interesting description of Temple Meads in SW category. The last sentence is particularly imaginative.
"A short stroll from the heart of Bristol town center, the impressive Temple Meads Station is nestled among a variety of local businesses. Visitors and commuters can enjoy a delightful array of florists, artisanal bakeries, and live music in the surrounding area."
Aside from the Websterised spelling of ‘centre’ (cultural ignorance, or IT illiteracy?) the description of the area around
BRI» does seem rather fanciful. There is a bakery (what makes a bakery artisanal? Employing a baker?) in the arches under the station incline, and florist sometimes sets up shop outside the front entrance; occasionally I have heard taxi drivers whistling… but to suggest that the area is rich in culture is a bit wide of the mark.
Temple Meads is a brisk 15 minute walk from Bristol’s carfax, so it’s a stretch to call it a short stroll.
Bristol became a county in 1373, only becoming a city in 1542. Perhaps the
RDG‡ didn’t get the memo.
BRI is hardly looking its best at the moment. In a few years time, when the scaffolding has gone and the new entrances are open, it will without doubt get a gong.
