Interesting revision from the FGW (First Great Western) website :

05:22 Plymouth to London Paddington due 09:45

This train has been revised. It will no longer call at: Weston-Super-Mare, Bath Spa and Chippenham. This is due to a delay on a previous journey.

Wow that was some delay.... assuming it formed the last train into Plymouth last night, it must have been well over four hours late to cause a delay to this morning's service.  Grin

Or could it just possibly be that the reason given for delay isn't exactly 100% accurate?  National Rail Enquiries says it left Plymouth on time and got progressively later as far as Highbridge. Which looks to me more like the wrong kind of leaves.

Interestingly, missing out Bath and Chippenham reduced the delay by a grand total of two minutes.

I would imagine this train was diverted via the Badminton line between Bristol-Swindon hence missing out Bath and Chippenham?

It also missed Weston, which enabled it to get back ahead of the 0830 departure from Bristol Temple Meads. A good move.
