From the FGW (First Great Western) live departure boards ...

I think I'm in for an interesting couple of hours ... I have guests arriving in Westbury on the train from Paddington, and connecting into the Cheltenham Spa via Melksham and Swindon train ...

Currently 19 late. Showing as arriving 13 late into Westbury. I'm not convinced Autmun driving can make up 5 mins over the B&H (Berks and Hants - railway line from Reading to Taunton via Westbury) with stops at Newbury and Pewsey to follow

A 9 minute connection at Westbury is valid, so presumably FGW (First Great Western) have to provide a taxi for your clients?

And now 19:52.   Looks like they'll be coming on by road from WSB» (Westbury - next trains), but at least FGW (First Great Western) have been alerted so hopefully my customers aren't going to have to search out someone to help them and start explaining from the beginning!  Yes, FGW customer service wondered about th e next train ... but when they saw it was 07:02 said they would lay on taxis.  I think it'll have to be plural!

I'll put up a full post later ... but it looks like it might be worked out nicely in the circumstances.  Fingers crossed.

Customers arrived, 45 late, by taxi.  And apparently there had been an announcement in the train for anyone for the Melksham / Chippenham / Swindon service to contact the train manager so they knew what was happening, and WSB» (Westbury - next trains) were expecting them.  Only 45 down is pretty darned good when the Penzance was around 30 late - many thanks to the FGW (First Great Western) team.

If anyone has missed it in "London to Reading" ... there's a very interesting discussion going on concerning whether trains should be held:
