I thought I'd introduce myself here.

I've been using the trains (and buses) for more or less 4 years since I decided not to use the Car anymore, and mainly use ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former TOC (Train Operating Company))) services to get into Cardiff. Of the times I've used FGW (First Great Western) trains I have found them pleasant and have only on the one occasion have had to stand up (I rarely use peak time trains which may have helped)

Are there any other Welshmen/women 'on board'?

Thanks for doing so, IanC - and welcome to the Coffee Shop forum!  Wink

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Another one here. Cardiff born and bred, though exiled to Nailsea and Backwell for many years now.

Hi Ian

and hi to everyone else of course.

Patrick here from Swansea, although sent to Ireland some time back - will return soon I am sure of it.

Still a regular user of FGW (First Great Western) HST (High Speed Train) from Swansea to Paddington whenever I am back - don't like flying much and prefer to spend the few hours looking out the window. Also spent many happy hours down at Swansea station as a child watching the HSTs arriving and departing. Still love the noise from the old days.

Anyway great to be here and hope to contribute when I have something useful to say.

best wishes

Patrick
