There are some interesting stations around ...

a) You can come leave my exit and within a few seconds go into the entrance of another Network Rail owned station. I have one platform.

b) I am the only intermediate station on any Network Rail owned line which was built under a light railway order and from which trains still leave in both directions.

c) I opened in 1975. You can sometimes catch a birdwatching (feathered variety) special at 10 a.m.

d) I was a terminus for all my life as a train station, yet I had through trains including one that was named after trees.  These days, I my grandeur is rather diluted by my primary current function as a car park.

e) I opened in 1847, and my trains were not hauled by a steam engine.  I remain open, with 2 platforms with regular trains and also ferries.  As well as FGW (First Great Western), another TOC (Train Operating Company) operates a single service each day, but that will cease in December.

f) I used to be a Great Western station, but FGW trains some nowhere near me these days. There are 10 letters in my name, but only 1 of them is a vowel.

g) I opened in 1864. The Network Rail station to my north opened in 2007, and the Network Rail station to my south opened in 1999.  At one point in my recent history, there were just 2 departures a day but now there are 8 an hour. For those of you helping with the TransWilts fight - it CAN be done.  There is no longer a direct service to Banbury.

One each, again?

Nearly all national rail stations are owned by Network Rail, they are merely managed by TOCS, excepting the 18 which NR» (Network Rail - home page) manage themselves.

a) St Budeaux Victoria Road
c) Seaton tramway station
d) Bath , Green Park
... are all correct.

b) is not the Ffestiniog

And, yes, Network rail owns but does not manage every station except Fishguard on the national network

Correct.

I was looking online for references / a timetable for the dark days at Olympia, when the only train was the "Kenny Belle" which was - I think unadvertised and ran a very early morning service and then a late afternoon / early evening one to bring Post Offic estaff from Clapham Junction.   Can anyone provide a link / more information that my rusted memory?

Shall we say ... a second go after 12 hours, and then it's a free for all after 24 hours on quizzes like these?

I'm trying to give everyone a fair chance, keep it simple, and not leave old stuff handing around for ages when it's past it's best-before date. A bit like how the fare system should be!
