Excellent reaction from FGW following the early finish at Newbury Races on Saturday following the death of the horses in the parade ring.   Extra calls made by services from the WoE and a shuttle service to Reading up and running very quickly.

In my (one) experience of visiting Newbury races FGW seemed to be very good at providing ad hoc services from Racecourse station after the event. There was a large crowd of us waiting for one particular train who were picked up earlier than expected by an HST that didn't appear in the timetable as an advertised stop. Don't know if that's standard procedure or if we were just lucky for some reason.
