And a warm welcome to Graz (Graham) onto our moderator team too.  Graham's is another sensible, net-savvy head who's inputs I value, and who's watching brief here I welcome as things get busier.

This brings the moderator team up to five, so there will be one of us around quite often. Please feel free to notify any or all of us if you feel that there's something that needs to be brought to our attention, or if you have any questions / suggestions / comments.

Congratulations on your appointment Graz!

Whilst on the subject of improvements have you considered rearranging the forums?

I suggest merging the "Smoke and Mirrors" forum into "Across the West" as the majority of the posts seem to be on similar subjects and you can always pin a list of the key people at the top of the forum. I would then suggest you move "Across the West" to the very top as it is clearly the most popular and relevant forum. I also suggest moving the chat from the "Introductions" forum into either "Across the West" or creating a "News" folder to allow key stories to be posted.

I think these forums have an important function as a fair place to discuss the current issues related to the franchise with contributions both from passengers and staff without making impossible demands like various other sites. Therefore I think it is important that you optimise everything here in order to increase the amount of traffic and enhance the level of discussion.

Mada, I'm passing your idea / sugegstion around the moderators - seeing what they think, and if a good idea whether we should make any other adjustments too.

You may have spotted a few other gentle changes last weekend and I'm not averse to such things - but I don't want to keep changing things so that people can't find what they're looking for any more, or to leave us with an illical arrangement.  There are a number of people on these forums who might point at a certain TOC (Train Operating Company) and suggest they find a prime example of making dramatic changes to the extent that they put their customers off .... and I have no intention of doing the same  Wink

1000% understood, you don't want people to start thinking this forum software is going to be replaced by an older version as it's cheaper to run and servers which don't have enough capacity for the traffic  Wink

Do you have something you would like to add to this thread, or would you like to raise a new question at the Coffee Shop? Please [register] (it is free) if you have not done so before, or login (at the top of this page) if you already have an account - we would love to read what you have to say!

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
