STAGECOACH-GR-Stagecoach-to-trial-UK (United Kingdom)-s-first-budget-sleeper-coach-service-13735986

how about 1 from south wales then?

Also megabus have extended some of their services west of cardiff to Swansea & Pemrboke dock to connect with ferry services, with through ticketing available

Think that trying to lie down and sleep on a bus might be a fast-track to Chunderland, for me at least!

looks good to me.  I wonder  how it compares to railway sleepers - in costs, comfort and environmentally.

As you are overnight speed becomes less of an issue, which means that rail looses its key advanatge over coaches.

...not if it is Megabus which doesn't operate from coach stations.  It just drops you off at the kerb side.  The beds look wider than the rail sleeper offering though.

I am not sure what it is but while I can easily get to sleep on the Night Riveria or the Caledonian Sleepers I don't think it would be as easy on a road coach.  That is even allowing for the slower speeds the timetable suggests.  However one thing which might persuade people to give it a try, apart from price, is the fact it runs on Saturday nights/Sunday mornings.

From the MegaBus site - news

Quote
S35 Service Withdrawn from 01 March 2015
Posted: Wednesday, 04 February 2015

megabus.com have worked hard and made considerable investment to make S35 Cardiff - Glasgow Sleeper Service economically viable and unfortunately have not been able to do so.

It is therefore with regret megabus.com will be withdrawing this service from 1st March 2015.

megabus.com would like to thank all customers and staff who have supported this service

I'm not sure how big their sleeper network has become, nor where there's a map

Seeing as I managed to fall asleep on the 267 from Bath to Frome yesterday evening (nothing to do with the Doom Bar just before boarding) I don't think I would have a problem with a proper sleeper service. It is a very strange feeling to doze off on a full bus and wake up as the only passenger still on. Hope I wasn't snoring.

Crowds going to Rode?

Dangerous place, Rode  Wink ... hope they left you possessions on the bus with you.

More than 700 people flooded through the gates of a country manor house in Rode, which was the scene of a gruesome murder 150 years ago.

Crowds of visitors turned out to see the gardens of Langham House, formerly Road Hill House, on Sunday, where three-year-old Saville Kent was found murdered on June 30, 1860.

Off topic for this thread, but as I recall one of the bus routes through Rode was pulled out from the village but then re-instated.  Was that the 267?   How are passenger numbers holding up?

There were 7 or 8 got on at Rode on my morning journey about 0730 ish, I'm afraid I didn't notice how many got off on the return trip. Incidentally, only the First Bus 267 goes through Rode, the Faresaver 267 gives the bandit country a miss.
