50% off replaced by 33% off at National Express, with card

The Government Subsidy which provided half price National Express Coach travel to senior citizens ended last night ...

And after much gnashing of teeth - at least at Forums like TravelWatch SouthWest - National Express have just introduced a 1/3 off discount card at a fee of 10 pounds a year for the more mature and disabled person:

National Express at Melksham this morning ...

... and it looks rather as if the 1/3 offer has been anticipated judging by how quickly it has appeared on the back:

Trowbridge and Melksham coach times - see here. They are not included in the National Express 402 / 403 leaflet which misses out all the stops between Devizes and Frome.

off topic but relating to the "well Driven" slogan on the back of grahame's picture, do national express use one of them expensive premium numbers?
Read a lot of companys are buying the ^1 a minute phone numbers, then getting their drivers to drive in a inconsiderate manner to get lots of calls, making them about 60p a minute profit on these calls!

I don't think so unless they have changed. It's hard-to-find unless you've actually got a coach to look at, but an old photo says 0800 22 55 33 which is free, and the format looks the same on the picture I took this morning.

Other numbers I found much more easily for National Express enquiries (and these do cost arm and leg):
0901 226 1762 - which is 1.53 per call
0871 81 81 78 - which is 10p / minute + network charges

0121 460 8400 is the main HQ^▸ switchboard (ah, that's a number you're not paying them to talk to them on!) and I'm also seeing 0121 254 6333 quoted in a couple of places). National Express also quote 0121 455 0086 which is a textphone for the hard of hearing - would be nice if they provide an official enquiry number at the geographic price for everyone, wouldn't it?

surley if you see a coach or lorry being driven so badly that you feel compelled to pick the phone up... you should call the police on a none emergency number?

That 'Well Driven?' notice on the back of the coach is a bit small is it not? Much smaller than the number plate for instance.

At motorway speeds isn't a little dangerous to be attempting to make a note of that number whilst either behind (observing the '2 second rule') or overtaking?
