"What's the point in answering this consultation" you may ask. "They've decided anyway and they're just looking to tic a box". Well - you may be right, but perhaps there are other reasons to answer ...
Answering a consultation makes you think. It makes you consider the item being consulted on from the consultation runner's perspective. And if it's not an anonymous consultation, it gets your name in there as an interested party to ask (and perhaps listen to) in the future.
And even if the consultation was just a box ticking exercise, if you write in a good answer to the comments box, and if you thank the reader for taking your input, you might even be surprised!
