From the FGW website :

Line problem in the Freshford area.
Train services between Westbury and Bath Spa have been disrupted due to a line-side fire in the Freshford area.Delays of up to 20 minutes may still occur.

Replacement road transport is operating between Westbury and Bath Spa in both directions via Freshford.

17:11 Weymouth to Cheltenham Spa due 20:42
This train has been terminated at Westbury.It will no longer call at: Trowbridge, Bradford-On-Avon, Avoncliff, Freshford, Bath Spa, Oldfield Park, Keynsham, Bristol Temple Meads, Filton Abbey Wood, Bristol Parkway, Yate, Cam & Dursley, Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa.This is due to a line-side fire.

17:22 Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central due 20:41
This train has been revised.This is due to a line-side fire.

18:30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour due 21:52
This train has been revised.It will additionally call at: Keynsham and Oldfield Park.It will no longer call at: Bradford-On-Avon.This is due to a line-side fire.

18:42 Gloucester to Frome due 20:47
This train has been reinstated.

19:32 Westbury to Cheltenham Spa due 21:26
This train will be terminated at Chippenham.It will no longer call at: Swindon, Kemble, Stroud, Stonehouse, Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa.This is due to a line-side fire.

Yes some trains were diverted to Chippenham & went up & down the Melksham Branch line.
I was on the 19.01 which was  late and then it had to wait for a Bristol to Westbury divereted train.

Never a dull moment on the Melksham Branch line. Shocked

The NRN emegancy broadcast was a load of rubbish though. "Will the driver of 1F13.....there is a fire Bristol side of Freshford Station (total crap) and could you pleasse stop and see if you can tackle it with your on train fire extinguisher"! To which the driver of the train I was on (not that 1 - I didn't get to see the fire) shouted "Eff off"

Going pass on Friday AM could not see any burnt grass etc

It's on the left going towards Bath, just before the bridge over the farmers field, its by his pile of cow waste.
