It is a 175 - look at the purple seats! Definitely built for First (North Western).

To be honest - it is the ping that is the worst... Although I think Doris does have a blocked nose!

Sounds like a mixture of 3 different voices throughout the announcement! Doris, the 'no smoking' woman and the 180 voice!
The chimes are too long, I feel, despite sounding nice the first time they would quickly become a bit annoying...a simple 'ping pong' like at the FGW stations- or even nothing- would have been better...

I expect that this is what the HSTs will be getting! HST's aren't getting automated announcments. Atleast I haven't heard different.

I heard one on an HST the other day. IIRC it was advising of an imminent ticket check. (However, as an aside, on the return journey, despite the barriers at Padd being opened to allow pax to board quickly there was no ticket check.)

Ah that announment. 'The guard will be making a full ticket check and would like to see all tickets, railcards and passes.' By a women, used on 150's along with: 'Welcome Aboard, please listen to the following announcment for your safety. etc.'

Wot "Welcome aboard. Please listen to the following announcements for your safety. Please familiarise yourself with the safety information provided on the posters displayed in the passengers saloons. Emergency door opening procedures are indicated close to the doors. Please ensure overhead luggage is safely stowed and when you leave the train, please mind the gap between the train and the platform. Thankyou" ??

Ah, those wonderful words always remind me of pulling out of Bristol Temple Meads on a Severn Beach Line service.....

The FGW safety announcements, whilst repetitive and tedious, do fit in with their new Mk 3 seating - all designed to make you think you're travelling on Ryanair rather than a train.
