Does anyone out there no why this service was 20 minutes late arriving into Swindon last night?

In the great scheme of things not a huge delay, but it did impact on my onward travel. I had a taxi booked from Swindon station at 2350 (10 minutes after scheduled arrival) and consequently had waiting time added to my cab fare as we didn't arrive into Swindon until 0100.

I asked the train manager just prior to arrival at Swindon why we were running late and got the answer, "Sorry Sir, I'm not sure, I've been trying to find out myself so I could make an announcement." Fair enough for the honest reply and I didn't press further as he was about to carry out his arrival duties.

I was unable to check further at the time as it was late and the GF just wanted to get home after a long, but enjoyable* day in London.

As an aside, the mobile reception is atrocious between Didcot and Swindon. I was unable to get through to the taxi firm to advise them of our late arrival. Can't blame the rail network for that though!

*London Dungeon, a classy burger and 'We Will Rock You' at the Dominion Theatre.  Cheesy

Edit note: Taxi booked for 0050. And also, if it wasn't for the four curtain calls at the theatre we may've made it to Paddington in time for the 2245.....
