Bristol - Bath - Trowbridge by First Great Western train
This page follows from the Overcrowded page that describes the journey in to Bristol on Easter Saturday.
The return trip was also late - the 17:22 from Bristol to Portsmouth being run with the stock that arrived from Taunton to form the 17:44 to Great Malvern, with the Great Malvern train formed from the stock that arrived from Cardiff and should have carried on to Portsmouth. Announcements indistinct as we waited in the (first) train, uniformed First staff giving out the wrong information to passengers who were asking them (mainly because they hadn't been told of the changes!) and all together a bit of a pantomime!
However - we got underway about half an hour late and, to their credit, the staff had sorted out the passengers to the extent that I think everyone was on the right train.
Overcrowded train
Again, an overcrowded train and once again passengers were denied access. I was pretty squeezed in at this point - really not able to get any good pictures of the platform, but you can make out the orange jacket of the chap defending the train from further boarding attempts, a substantial crowd left behind.
Access denied to train at Bath
They wouldnt be allowed to do this to cattle
Station stops were greatly extended in order to allow people to get on and off, and I doubt whether the train was regaining its schedule. Here's the scene at Trowbridge as we got off
Too overcrowded to get off?
A huge relief to have complete the journey - Trowbridge Platform.
