Swindon to Westbury via Chippenham, Melksham and Trowbridge

2898 1049 Description of line

Swindon - Chippenham - Melksham - Trowbridge - Westbury.

Service offered

2 trains per day each way on Monday to Saturday, 2 northbound trains only on Sunday. The service was reduced from 5 round trips a day in December 2006.

Peak flows

The remaining trains leave Swindon at 06:19 and 18:42, which is inconvenient for most potential travellers. As a result, a service that was used by 100,000 people per year has dropped back (my estimate) to just 8% of that - 8,000 journeys - projected for 2007.

Known issues

The current service is TOTALLY UNSUITED to the traffic that's available and offered and there are strong moves for a return to an appropriate service from December 2007 ... 2008 ... 2009 ... 2010 ... 2011 ... 2012 ... Manyana ...
