They are all nicknames for the Class 153 unit. Title: Re: Quarter Pounder, anyone? How about a missile? Post by: grahame on February 03, 2008, 09:38:56 Yes indeed. Now something "odd". I have come across all these names for the 153, yet I can't off hand think of anything similar for the 158 ... of which there are plenty more examples around, and which (being a 2 or 3 coach trains) carry far more passengers. Any idea why there would be this lack of nicknames for the 158?

Post by: grahame on February 04, 2008, 04:02:36 According to http://harmsy.freeuk.com/ukrailwayfaq/nicknames.html (http://harmsy.freeuk.com/ukrailwayfaq/nicknames.html) the 158 is known as "Express", "Formica Express", "Garden Shed", "Scud" - same as 153! and "Flying Coffin". Also gives me "Super Bubble", "Runaway Carriage" and "Minicab" for the 153 - that's in addition to some of the list I started with!
