It was an auction prize donated by GWR which raised over ^20,000 for charity I understand.

It will be a special set with two 407xx kitchens in the rake to serve 70 four course meals apparently.

Couldn't they have found a better destination than Frome? Odd that....

I don't think they leave the train to be honest.  It is just a convenient place to reverse the train to return to London and the right distance to get the meal served.

Back via Bristol Parkway needs a reversal?

But I take your point....

Not at Bristol Parkway - but you have to reverse at Frome or you end up in Devon.

Yeah, good point - so how (brain fade) do you get from Frome to Bristol Parkway? Via Westbury & Temple Meads I guess?

You did ask...

Frome, Frome North, Clink Road Jn, Fairwood Jn, Westbury, Hawkeridge Jn, Trowbridge, Bradford Jn, Bradford-on-avon, Avoncliff, Freshford, Bathampton Jn, Bath Spa, Oldfield Park, Twerton, Keynsham, North Somerset Jn, Dr Day's Jn, Lawrence Hill, Stapleton Road, Narroways Hill Jn, Filton Abbey Wood, Filton Jn, Bristol Parkway

Yep, so it still begs the question  of running Westbury/Frome rather than going Westbury/BPW as above. Unless they thought they'd need that shortish extra time to serve?

Haven't got the time to look but I suspect platforms at Westbury might be at a premium.  You can sit at Frome and not interfere with the timetabled service as it arrives just after a Weymouth service has gone and there isn't another one for two hours.

It's probably best that we don't let member 'broadgage' hear about such a service ...  ::) :o :P ;D

Correct, it was two first class carriages sandwiched between two buffet cars with four standards making up the rest.

That's probably a description of broadgage's 'perfect train journey'.  ;) :D ;D
