Title: Where were Finn and bignosemac today, 28th June 2019
Post by: JayMac on June 28, 2019, 16:48:55
Out for a drive in glorious weather today to do a bit of railway exploring.

Three to guess (one go each please). Where were we?

Seems I'm not alone in visiting the second location recently. A post in reply to my recent holiday blog in Frequent Posters from bradshaw at the same level crossing gates.

Correct!

That just leaves number 3. We were in roughly the same area as 1 and 2.

3 Stalbridge.
It is good to see, presumably organised by the Blackmore Vale Line Community Rail Partnership.

Indeed. Stalbridge.

Quite surprised to see a rail timetable in a town with no station!

However it is only some 10 minutes from Templecombe and as such quite convenient.
The Blackmore Vale group (https://www.blackmorevaletrains.com/about-us/) are very active as are the Friends of Templecombe station. It might be the latter who arranged for the timetable to by displayed

I'll ask the latter. What with being a member now!

Whilst Stalbridge is just 10 minutes from Templecombe there are only two buses a day between the two. Said timetable is near the main bus stop in Stalbridge, which has better bus connections to Sherborne, 25 minutes away. I say better, it's only a two hourly service.
