I'm delighted to have long distance travellers pass through the great beauty of Melksham Spa, even if that delays the local service by a few minutes. Such diversions probably ensured that the line survived at all, and these days with a tokenises block such one-direction disruption does not result in a shortage of tokens and Bradford Junction, nor a surfeit of them in the platform staff room at Chippenham.
