We were waiting to cross at Penryn. The train which hit the cow passed us and proceeded to Falmouth. Eventually it came back and attached to the rear of our train so they could run an hourly shuttle between Penryn and Falmouth with buses onward to Truro.
By this time the remaining cows had reached the end of the platform at Truro. I have a couple of photos I will try to upload later but still on a train at the moment. Title: Re: falmouth line suspended Post by: LiskeardRich on August 20, 2011, 16:59:40 Would hitting a cow not cause some damage to the train, a big heavy lump which they are!
also the cows reaching Truro is some walk for a cow from where the incident apparently happened Title: Re: falmouth line suspended Post by: bobm on August 20, 2011, 18:09:37 To be fair I said I was at Penryn waiting for the trains to cross. The incident happened just the Truro side of Penryn station. There was some discussion among the staff on our train about possible damage to the other unit but it did proceed past us to Falmouth.
I am not sure what time the replacement buses arrived. After an hour I caught a Western Greyhound services which was passing the station to Truro. (I can't upload a photo - it says the upload folder is full) Title: Re: falmouth line suspended Post by: JayMac on August 20, 2011, 20:09:47 Here are bobm's photos, kindly emailed to me with permission to upload:

I meant the Truro end of the platform at Penryn - but of course it doesnt say that. No offence intended.
Title: Re: falmouth line suspended Post by: JayMac on August 21, 2011, 00:46:37 I trust someone got them to mooove eventually? :P ;) ;D
(Well, all except the one that is well on its way to being burgers....) Title: Re: falmouth line suspended Post by: bobm on August 21, 2011, 00:49:10 In all serious that was part of the problem. The surviving cows didn't want to leave their striken colleague.
