Title: Diverted trains January 20-28 Post by: froome on January 12, 2024, 14:39:23 With the line between Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare being closed for these 9 days, Cross Country will once again be diverting their Bristol to the south-west services, presumably onto the line through Bath Spa and Westbury to Taunton.
IIRC on previous occasions, it hasn't always been clear if these services will stop at either of those two intermediate stations, though I think they usually haven't. Does anyone here know? I will probably be travelling from Bath to the south-west during that week and it would obviously be easier to use a direct service from here rather than having to change en route or going via Temple Meads and then bus replacement. Westbury (WSB) all day on 22 Jan for XC trains https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:WSB/2024-01-22/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt&toc=XC Bath (BTH) all day on 22 Jan https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:BTH/2024-01-22/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt&toc=XC I wouldn’t expect calls on this type of diversion unless the diverted service reduced the normal service through the area? Paul Please note, the forum is adding extra preamble so my links as copied don’t work… Edit - grahame - to make the links work :D Title: Re: Diverted trains January 20-28 Post by: GBM on January 13, 2024, 07:45:48 If you look at Realtime Trains it will show there are no planned passenger calls, although it could change later I suspect that’s unlikely. The XC on the end seems to be being changed to lower case somewhere. Forum software issue . Try the following as a work-around to get you there. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:WSB/2024-01-22/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt&toc=XC Title: Re: Diverted trains January 20-28 Post by: GBM on January 13, 2024, 08:10:20 Ideal. Thank you, work-around link working.
Title: Re: Diverted trains January 20-28 Post by: Clan Line on January 30, 2024, 18:08:05 Slightly unusual sight at Westbury. The paintwork on the train is in somewhat better condition than that on the overbridge, I have to wonder how long it will be before there is a weight limit for stuff going under that bridge as well !

A Cross Country HST diverted via Freshford in 2014. There were two in the cab so not sure if they used a pilot with route knowledge on that occasion.
