One of West Midland trains class 196 units was in the down side turbo sidings at Oxford last Wednesday.
Mosy likley on loan to Chiltern for training on the Oxford - Milton Keynes service and it will have to be followed by others.
So even when the current problem is solved there will be a reduction in the number of units available to West Midland.

7  All across the Great Western territory / Media about railways, and other means of transport / Re: I Spent Over 12 Hours on an Amtrak Train (on purpose) on: December 31, 2024, 23:36:30
A few years ago a friend of mine travelled on Amtrak from Chicago to DC (Direct Current).

The loco failed a couple of hours out of Chicago. CSX pushed the Amtrak train into a siding and the Amtrak driver hitchhiked back to Chicago to get another loco. They arrived in DC 12 hours late.

I Normally use Firefox for the Coffee shop.

When I clicked the like button for Grahams post with the sever diagrams in Firefox I got a page saying my like had been registered but my login name did not appear on the list of likes.

I have now logged in using Chrome and after I clicked like the like has been added.

Yes and look out for train 1X01 from North pole depot!

I hope 1X01 takes that move at Worcestershire parkway at 5mph. Its going from the OWW (Oxford Worcester and Wolverhampton) line to platform 1 the up (Northbound) Bristol and Birmingham. That's a drop of about 20 feet and a turn through 120 degrees.

I would say the alternative URL counts as a diversion rather than a FRS (Forum replacement service).

Of course Murphys law of IT upgrades will apply. Like the time when(On the Friday of half term) I had just started a 3 hour job to upgrade an email system for a group of colleges. 10 minutes in the Principal's PA (Public Address (broadcast loudspeaker announcements) or Passenger Assist (railway staff providing physical assistance to passengers with mobility issues), depending on context) rang to say she had just opened the letter from Ofstead announcing we where getting a full Inspection starting on the following Monday morning.

Or the time I had arranged a 3 day shutdown of the Virtual learning system. This was well publicised on the home page of the system as well as by Email to all staff and students. But just after I had started to migrate the database there was a desparate phone call from one tutor who had arranged for his students to use the system for a major catch up workshop because he had been off sick for some time.

“The Metro service remains suspended between Monument and Heworth as a precaution due to the ongoing closure of the A167 Gateshead Highway flyover.

“Following further specialist advice we received yesterday afternoon from Gateshead Council’s structural engineers, we had to immediately suspend services through the tunnels. The Metro tunnels run beneath the flyover.

Maybe we should have a content warning system on the Coffee shop. I was sat on the top deck of a bus when I first read that post by Chris from Nailsea. Shocked

West Country trains to London may get slower, minister warns

They will if GWR (Great Western Railway) use class 230s on them.
