I am not sure if that was the case.   The up train from Warminster is usually timed to be on the single line between 08:26 and 08:38.    Today the Penzance train was slightly early and was on the line between 09:02 and 09:14.

The return service from Swindon is usually between Thingley and Bradford Junctions from 09:27 and 09:38.

Now both re-instated.

Falklands seems so long ago but provided some of the most vivid memories of my journalistic career.

Last Saturday the Weymouth service was operated by 166 207.  I believe all the 166s are based at St Philip’s Marsh.

Today that unit is currently heading from Bristol Temple Meads to Warminster before going to Gloucester.

After another round trip to Westbury and back and an outing to Weymouth, it will go to Bristol again before ending its day at Westbury. 

Last Friday it was covering Cardiff/Portsmouths. 

Whether it was first choice for last week’s Swindon-Weymouth or a last minute replacement, I don’t know.

With the power to the signalling at Newbury restored, the latter pair above have now been re-instated.

Unless you are in coach 33 and have to walk through to coach 3 to exit the train....

Don’t start me on mobile phone calls.  Increasingly you get people holding their phone flat, on loudspeaker and talking into the bottom of it as though they are on the Apprentice!

The 16:23 from Westbury and the 17:35 from Swindon now re-instated.

Sleeper loco suffered a fuel leak.   Now been rescued by a Castle Class set and on its way, empty, to Long Rock in Penzance.

Cholsey certainly did have GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) branding on the Up Relief platform in May 2019.

It has not been unknown for a rail replacement bus to hit a low bridge so while not mandated it might be prudent to ensure drivers know the route before being thrown in to cover extra journeys.
