2  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture Overseas / Re: all Paris to London eurostar trains suspended on: March 07, 2025, 15:34:24
Services into and out of the Gare du Nord to restart at 18.00 (French time).

If they remove the bridge, I suppose that would be the end of the proposal to reopen the railway right through to Maiden Newton.

Thanks JohnD, very informative.
5  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: ‘HIF1’ relief road to Culham on: December 12, 2024, 15:12:16
Does anyone know where the northern end of the new road will be?
Presumably it will be a junction with the A415 somewhere near Culham station? Or will Clifton Hampden get a by-pass?
6  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The Lighter Side / Re: AQ09 - 52 places you may have visited - how many? on: December 09, 2024, 14:59:28

Just learned that Cholsey Parish Council is setting up a working party to investigate potential improvements to accessibility at the station. It's a start...

Newbury to Bedwyn isn't in the Thames Valley, which is the title of this thread.
12  Journey by Journey / London to Didcot, Oxford and Banbury / Disabled access at Cholsey: time for a campaign! on: March 04, 2024, 20:33:11
Cholsey station platforms are currently accessible by stairs only.
There must be many wheelchair-using residents (like my wife) who would use the train if it were possible.
What would be the chances of a campaign to have lifts installed?
How would we go about it?
Goring & Streatley station users' thoughts welcome, their campaign having been successful.
13  Journey by Journey / London to Didcot, Oxford and Banbury / Re: Tilehurst station - facilities, incidents and improvements on: January 15, 2024, 16:09:14
And Cholsey too, where the platforms are completely inaccessible to people who can't climb stairs.
