1  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Another increase in unregulated fares on: May 04, 2012, 01:28:25
Interesting comment, Graham.  I didn't realise that the pre-decimal halfpenny was abandoned a couple of years before decimalisation; I remember the decimal halfpenny subsequently being abandoned in 1984.
2  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Luton Airport Parkway to Cardiff Central - 2 changes, same arrival/depart times on: April 05, 2012, 14:14:10
I don't know why TFL (Transport for London) don't offer the option of using through-London National Rail tickets by bus (other than on occasions that there are no tube trains).  Given that bus is cheaper and generally less crowded than train, I can't see what they would lose by allowing this?

Thanks for clarifying. Strange that Stratford is mentioned but not Stratford International.
4  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Engineering works & longer journeys, why still same cost as normal? on: March 17, 2012, 00:33:06
By the way - this may explain why the First Bus from Melksham to Chippenham, which takes twice as long as First train, is also more expensive.
Isn't that more likely because:

(1) the train fares are regulated and the bus fares are not; and
(2) people will pay a premium for the bus because it goes more "door-to-door" than the train?

On further investigation I'd say a 'NOT UNDERGROUND' ticket is not valid on DLR (Docklands Light Railway).

For the simple reason that there are, to the best of my knowledge, no inter-available routes on DLR services where a 'NOT UNDERGROUND' fare is offered.

Did you have a particular origin and destination in mind MarkyMarkD?
Not particularly - just interested!  And thanks for the welcome. Smiley

So, for the avoidance of doubt (once again) do National Rail tickets which permit a cross-London transfer allow this via DLR as well as via Underground?  I guess the answer is yes?

So, for the avoidance of doubt, does "NOT UNDERGROUND" also mean "NOT DLR (Docklands Light Railway)"?
