When the lever to clear the signal is pulled the word ' OFF ' illuminates to let the train driver signal 54 is clear to proceed when the driver cannot see signal 54. Another form of this is a round array of white LEDs which look like a road side speed delimiter sign of which there is one on the down platform at Bath. If there is a black horizontal line next signal is other than a green. In brief an aid where a signal has a sighting problem.

I thought this project was virtually 'shovel ready', but no not quite. I personally became involved in this project in 1982 when I prepared a briefing paper for a friend who had been elected to Avon in the 1981 election and was on the Highways and Transport Committee of said Council. How many back to square ones have been achieved in the intervening 38 years I have lost count of.

Report in todays Bristles local daily of another delay to this project but confirms that the project is now fully funded. Yes fully funded at todays costs but how about the inflation that will occur between yesterdays projected completion date and the now newly delayed completion date together with the revelation that design work for the project has not been started yet. Let me put another damper on this project, do they know if they own the land on which the platform will be sited.    😗

In today's Bristles local daily there is an article on the PP Station which cites MP^▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) Darren Jones commenting on the very subject of the funding being re-cycling of old funding as new money, this saga goes on, why does it take so long for anything to get done in Bristol where a public body is involved ?
