Truro has one outside the ticket office on Platform 2, although you need to go through the ticket barriers to get to it.

Here is one of my photos from the Monday. The sun came out in the afternoon making perfect conditions for a shot at Truthall Halt. The train was busy all day which is great for the railway quite a few people stopped in their cars on the bridge too to get photos. A fantastic job has been done restoring the station.

The problem with the road bridge is you need to stand towards the up platform end due to a big tree over the down platform end of it, which means the sun is on the wrong side of the train. The best time for photos here is about 4pm onwards.

This is a great site for seeing where the sun will be: http://www.suncalc.net/#/50.4071,-4.2092,18/2018.04.23/09:21

Just move the time slider and the sun indicator moves around the location.

I have taken photos at the bridge end of both platforms. The down platform is best in the morning as the sun is in the right place to shine on the trains heading through the station and on the bridge. I have stood on the flat section to get photos of trains over the bridge.
The other platform is better for the afternoon once the sun has moved around. The road bridge is also a nice place to get photos from of trains coming through the station although the view of the Royal Albert Bridge is covered by trees from there.

Late summer evenings about 7 or 8pm onwards the Tamar bridge walkway is a nice place for shots of trains crossing the bridge too.

I wonder if the Looe and Newquay branches would manage to mid March with a single 153 on most services?

Looe and Newquay use a single 153 most of the year, which gets strengthened to a 150 in peak summer.

I have noticed that the few early Penzance to Paddington HSTs (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) which ran via Bristol, now none of them do. I found them to be quite useful for heading up to Bristol or South Wales and avoiding crowded 4 car voyagers, and changing at Taunton there is normally a long wait for GW» (Great Western - used as an abbreviation for the area / lines under the Great Western franchise, as opposed to FGW which includes "First", the company operating them too. For tickets - about) TAU» (Taunton - next trains) - BRI» (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains) service, although one of them atleast stops at Westbury in time to catch a Portsmouth to Cardiff service heading through Bristol.

Although in 2013 FGW (First Great Western) ran a special service with a full length HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) down to Falmouth Docks to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the line. It ran early on a Sunday morning before the usual 150 started its day on the branch.

For the train a change at Trowbridge, or Chippenham would be required, according to the National Rail site it would cost £24.40 all together (Using Anytime day singles).

For a similar reason the first westbound service from Plymouth into Cornwall started from Liskeard this morning.

While Sunday working remains voluntary I don't see a solution to this problem in the summer.
Who drove it to Liskeard? Presumably towed by the Looe train, but then again I can't imagine a driver starting a shift at Liskeard.

I believe it came from Par, with the Looe unit attached. (Stored at Par chapel siding on Saturday nights).

Why put these huge expensive trains to crawl through Cornwall instead of using Plymouth as the high speed hub with smaller, speedier more frequent feeder services within Cornwall?

After going on day trips up to Devon I would rather get a direct HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) back to Cornwall than have to change at Plymouth, sometimes there can also be quite a long wait for a connection too, which hopefully should be sorted within the next couple of years with the improvements in services, in Cornwall some branch lines have a more frequent services than the mainline (St Ives and Falmouth).
