Just a little rant. For the past couple of months or so every time I want to get a ticket (peak times) I have had to queue for over an hour and a half, missing several trains, into the car park quite often.  Angry

Not all of the ticket windows are open and the ones that are open are serving people who want tickets for next week or something, because the travel centre is closed.

When i asked about extra staff to the "flagship station manager" LOL ('laughing out loud') he was rather abrupt and told me they were getting more ticket machines, in a few months.

They need more staff and more machines, so annoying and the station manager attitude didn't help. Surely the could train up some of the gate line assistants to do ticket duties.

Anyway rant over!! just very frustrating.

I know I should book and collect in advance, but don't alway know when i am travelling.

I have basically just had to call the Police to Yatton station becasue their was children running back and forwards across the line, and were not looking out for trains. They were also sat on the platform edges with legs dangling over, and moved only when the train came in.

The Police did come very quickly but the fast non-stop train scared them off before the Police came.

Did I do the right thing calling the police??

the coast connect is a slightly longer service, running congresbury to portishead via yatton & clevedon

the other service is from outside Yatton station to Clevedon only.

not really surprised, if it anything like the new bus link from Yatton to Clevedon, which is poorly timed and leaves about a minute before the evening peak train arrives  Huh

The past week or so, a lot of preparation work, portakabins etc have been set up at Yatton Station, turned up this morning and their is half of a temporary footbridge in construction.

I assume the existing one needs refurbishing? Anybody know for sure? and when they are going to crane the new bridge span into place?

Thanks!
10  Journey by Journey / London to Swindon and Bristol / Re: 18:30 Pad to Wsm on: February 14, 2011, 19:49:10
18:00 Pad to Bristol Temple Meads was cancelled as well - so a two carriage train is going to be a tight squeeze!

I assume this isn't actually a 2carriage train from Pad?
11  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Fairly major disruption 'Across the West' this evening - 13 January 2011 on: January 13, 2011, 20:16:50
it was awful this morning with the flooding at Flax Bourton - thansk to crosss country stopping their edinburgh train at yatton this morning, although it was rammed.

and then this evening on the way home the 18.20 was 30mins late leaving Bristol temple meads and then we were delayed further twice by a problem with the emergency brake that was applied twice.

all in all not a good day.

sympathy with all involved with the suicide in Slough, hope the driver is ok.
12  All across the Great Western territory / Introductions and chat / Re: PROOF OF TRAIN DELAYS on: January 12, 2011, 20:08:51
it might not be for compo though. I quite often have to prove the train was late/cancelled at work if i am late.

Agree though OP (Original Poster / topic starter, or Off Peak, depending on context) needs to be more specific.

14  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Thanks FGW!! on: December 07, 2010, 19:09:13
Just want to say a quick thanks to FGW (First Great Western) for finding a train & crew to reinstate the 18;21 Bristol To Taunton today!

Was the HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) and staff "spare" ??

15  Journey by Journey / London to Swindon and Bristol / 07:30 Bristol Temple Meads to Paddington Today Lack of Toilets on: November 30, 2010, 19:43:07
All toilets were locked out of use on this service! I know it was cold and pipes probably froze, but is there anything FGW (First Great Western) could have done so this situation could be provided? are HSTs (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) kept inside overnight?
