Posted at lunchtime on Sunday 27th January ... so that's all of today's services and half of tomorrow's.

The Heart of Wessex seems rather susceptible to suspension due to flooding ... I'm not sure how many time it's happened so far this winter already, but I think it may now be 3 or 4.   Has it always been like this?   Perhaps members like swrural could tell us?

You caught me during my lunchtime trawl of GWCS .  Last night we had the most appalling storms down here (woke us up and kept us awake) and I suspect (can do no more than that) it was all too much for the little river Yeo.

GWCS?

Could we have full names at least once in a post before using the abbreviation. Googling 'GWCS' has me at a loss for anything rail related as it doesn't appear to be an abbreviation in common usage.

From what I've heard (and I could believe it as I drove through some biblical rainstorms yesterday evening) a culvert somewhere around Chetnole became overwhelmed and blocked during the downpours, which resulted in something like 20 - 30 tons of ballast being washed out. Repairs in hand but will take until Monday.

Apologies for the GWCS, as anyway, it should have been FGWCS, so apologies to Ollie as well (for missing off the F).  Chetnole is fairly low lying, but not near a water course IIRC▸ ('if I recall/remember/read correctly').  It well qualifies for the phrase 'and we stopped at every farmyard'.
