I read Network Rail's RUS on Alternative Solutions the other day; made interesting reading.

Something they didn't suggest, and I can't for the life of me think why, is this simple and effective approach from Cambodia

I wonder if this could be a first step to reopening the Portishead line?  The track looks to be in similar condition to the one shown in the clip.

I love it ...

Of course, you could swap crew and passengers and that would make it even easier.  I think they do that already at Ormskirk and Kirkby ...  so not really "lighter side" material.

Blimey - I hope they have retention tanks in the loos, but I have a horrible feeling they may not...
