I was out and about on the railway today, and I saw this: where was I?

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Bristol Temple Meads.

More precisely, by the iron gates that give staff access to platform 3 alongside Bonaparte's Cafe Bar.

Incidentally, type "Bonaparte's Bristol" into Google as an image search and the second 'hit' is a picture of two familiar GW» (Great Western - used as an abbreviation for the area / lines under the Great Western franchise, as opposed to FGW which includes "First", the company operating them too. For tickets - about) Coffee Shop faces....  Wink

Actually, I do mind - at least mine had the merit of being placed somewhere on the Bristol & Exeter Railway!  Your picture could be absolutely anywhere!  Shocked Grin

OK. A clue.

It's in GW» (Great Western - used as an abbreviation for the area / lines under the Great Western franchise, as opposed to FGW which includes "First", the company operating them too. For tickets - about) territory, and like the first picture it is near to the station's secondary entrance.

Hmmm ... that's not much of a clue, actually, but it does narrow the search area down a fair bit, considering Westwood Baillie built stuff which was used all over the world!

Looking at the overall impression of decay and neglect evident in your picture: would I be wasting my time in trying to find something on the Severn Beach Line to fit that image?  Undecided
