I'd say the right hand side for the best views. Mind you, there are a fair few tunnels!

Agree, mostly! From Stockport to Disley Tunnel nothing much to see except suburban gardens and cutting sides. From New Mills ( East of Disley Tunnel) the River Goyt valley is on the south side (right hand going to Sheffield). From Chinley to Edale it is cutting and tunnel, then in Edale views are good either side. Once past Hope (look for church spire on right after Earle's Cement Works sidings)(yes, it's not all beautiful hills and valleys! Big chimney is Cement Works), the valley floor -River Noe, then the Derwent from Bamford- is on the right again. Good views both sides though. After Grindleford you plung into Totley Tunnel and then out into Sheffield's suburbs. East Midlands Trains are refurbished 158s, and Trans Pennine Express are either 185s or 170s (hopefully 2 sets with 4 cars). Either are pretty busy, and packed at peak times. Enjoy!

There's 7.8miles/12.6km of tunnels between Stockport and Dore alone.

Left side after Dore for Sheaf Valley, Millhouses Park etc. South West Sheffield is a picture.

Thanks All,
Some nice views, couple of Signal Boxes and I think I so a noddy type card for rails just by some ground near the start of the last tunnel.

Will go this route again but in the Winter after some snow or frost.
