Police seek woman who defecated on Llandudno Junction station platform

Police are hunting for a woman who defecated on a train platform.

The would like to speak to a woman who was seen wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with ^Fresh Love^, and was caught on CCTV^▸ (Closed Circuit Tele-Vision) at Llandudno Junction train station on Thursday, June 12.

The woman disembarked the train at 9.45pm and relieved herself on the platform, leaving station staff to clean up her mess.

British Transport Police have issued an appeal for more information.

Sgt Tony Stamp of British Transport Police, said: ^We have experienced minor spikes in incidents of anti-social behaviour, particularly people urinating and defecating on station premises, which is, quite frankly, revolting and utterly unacceptable.

^Anyone committing such an offence could be banned from travelling on the rail network and will receive a criminal record, which may affect their employment.

Such behaviour is clearly unacceptable, and I do hope British Transport Police are able to identify the culprit.

Having said that, the quality of the CCTV^▸ (Closed Circuit Tele-Vision) image they have published is, err, rather shite.

Not a very nice job to clear up, but I wonder if an anti-spitting DNA kit could have been used to take a sample of the, err, deposit?

Might have help traced the woman concerned if she already has a criminal record.

Whilst echoing other people's contempt of such disgusting behaviour, the incident does nevertheless leave a couple of unanswered questions in my own mind. Were there any station facilities [toilets]? If there are, were they open at the time of the incident? Would they normally be open at that time (i.e. was she expecting them to be open)? If they weren't open at a time when passengers might be expected to embark and disembark, i.e. during published timetable operating times, why weren't they? Had she just disembarked from a train, and if so did that train have facilities available - or had she just endured a lengthy, uncomfortable journey? Was there a train due to arrive, because if she was booked to travel on it, that might reasonably be expected to have facilities on board, and if so - was it on time?

Woman traced and given Caution by BTP^▸ (British Transport Police) Police.   Station staffed until 2300 so it would appear that toilets would have been available at the time.   No details of woman's version of story.

33-year-old from Llandudno traced and interviewed after transport police appeal

Transport police have cautioned a woman after she defecated on a railway station platform.

An appeal was put out by British Transport Police on Friday after the incident at Llandudno Junction Railway Station on Thursday June 12, and her identity became known.

The woman disembarked the train at 9.45pm and soon after was seen on CCTV^▸ (Closed Circuit Tele-Vision) relieving herself on the platform, leaving station staff to clean up her mess.

She was identified and interviewed by investigating local officers.

The 33-year-old, who was from Llandudno, was given a police caution for the offence.

Her punishment should have been to clean toilets, especially after a Friday or Saturday night.

That station does have toilets but the National Rail site does not show the opening hours. It is quite possible that they had already been closed for the night. Raynes Park station near Wimbledon is busy but the toilets close at 9pm. I suspect it's a similar story at many other stations

Since starting to write this I've just had a look at the Arriva web site. They say there are No toilets at the station.
