What the manifestos say on rail fares

Prompted by the Cotswold fare thread at http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=15649.0 I poked up what the party manifesto say about rail fares (not general rail policy). In order of the amount they say on this:

Conservative:

We will support a fairer deal for taxpayers and commuters: we will keep commuter rail fares frozen in real terms for the whole of the next Parliament ^ regulated fares will only be able to rise by Retail Price Inflation, and train operating companies will not have any flexibility to raise ticket prices above this. We will also introduce smart ticketing and parttime season tickets and require train companies to improve compensation arrangements for passengers when trains are more than a few minutes late. We are investing millions of pounds in fitting out trains with new wi-fi equipment and improving mobile phone signals, which will benefit passengers on trains across England and Wales. 

Labour:

Rail fares will be frozen next year to help commuters while we implement reforms. A strict fare rise cap will be introduced on every route for any future fare rises, and a new legal right for passengers will be created to access the cheapest ticket for their journey.

Liberal Democrats:

"We have ended the era of above-inflation rail fare increases" and "A new statutory framework that all new rail franchises include a stronger focus on customers."

Green:

"Introduce an immediate cut in fares of 10% to give passengers a much-needed financial break."

SNP:

"... we have also placed limits on increases in rail fares and ..."

UKIP:

Nothing
