Hi all,

I couldn't find any recent information on this so thought I'd sign up and post the question directly.

I know that last year (I think) FGW (First Great Western) said that they would like to adopt the delay repay compensation scheme whereby passengers can claim regardless of the cause of a delay. I also believe that all new franchises must adopt delay repay as their compensation scheme. With FGWs franchise being renewed (and I believe this extension starts lates this year) does this mean FGW will be using delay repay from later on this year?

I am sick of being unable to claim for delays as I have a season ticket and not a regular ticket so great news if they are swapping to delay repay!

Welcome to the Coffee Shop forum, Albion.

This is from the March 2015 franchise agreement:
Quote
4.8 Co-operation in respect of implementation of delay repay
The Secretary of State and the Franchisee shall co-operate in good faith with the intention of implementing a revised Passenger^s Charter including ^delay repay^ passenger compensation provisions (or such other passenger compensation provisions as may be proposed by the Secretary of State) on or before the first anniversary of the Start Date. It is intended that any revised Passenger^s Charter shall be implemented by way of Variation pursuant to paragraph 1 of Schedule 9.5 (Variations and Incentivising Beneficial Change).

"On or before the first anniversary of the start date..." means that Delay Repay will replace charter compensation on or before 20th September 2016.
