In response to this twitter conversation from a passenger regarding the unavailability of the Tarka (Branch line from Barnstaple to Exeter) Line Rover, despite it's advertisement, shows the confusion between NRE (National Rail Enquiries), GWR (Great Western Railway), @GWRHelp, and its staff.

The Tarka Line Rover does not exist as a separate rover ticket, but is simply a CDR (Off Peak Day Return [ticket type] (formerly 'Cheap Day')) Barnstaple - Exeter St David's (or vice versa) that acts a rover over that route, which the passenger got but does not understand it is a return ticket with "rover powers"  Grin

This is a fallacy of having a so called rover ticket advertised as a separate entity but retailed as a 'normal' ticket.

I believe other so called rover GWR south west branch rovers are the same.

If I'm not mistaken a CDR (Off Peak Day Return [ticket type] (formerly 'Cheap Day')) Barnstaple to Exeter is the same price as a Devon Day Ranger. If you want a ranger buy a Devon day ranger,

Edit - sorry 10p more for day ranger.
