The Terms and Conditions for this offer on the GWR (Great Western Railway) website include:

3   fares Subject to availability and only for travel on services operated by GWR
4   tickets are non-refundable and must be booked at least 21 days in advance of travel
5   no other discounts are applicable with this offer
6   excludes GWR services between London and Oxford and services between Taunton and Barnstaple, Taunton and Bude, Taunton and Torquay, Taunton and Padstow, Taunton and Newquay, Taunton and Falmouth Docks, Taunton and Penzance

Para 6, especially if read in conjunction with para 3, gives the impression that GWR run services to Padstow and Bude.  What possessed someone to include these destinations?  Why not just say “services west of Taunton?”

The rule doesn't say that only invited passengers may travel or that the ticket is invalid for travel if not used by an invited person.  Can we take this to mean that the an invitee can buy a ticket for you?

But is that a ticket validity condition?

You can only use the offer once too. I read it that way, yes.

JUst booked this offer - and tickets have to be posted out to you - there's NO option to collect at a TVM (Ticket Vending Machine).

It looks like this has more terms than a Zimbabwean Presidency and more conditions that David Ginola's barnet.

For anyone travelling further afield, be aware that Virgin Trains have a sale currently, which is more open than GWR (Great Western Railway)'s. Details are here - but closes at midnight tonight!

I'm looking at getting my mum back to Blackpool from Bristol. Looks like £6.95 from BHM is the cheapest with her senior card. Best complete journey from BRI» (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains) is under £24, less than half price. I might go with her for the ride!
