I'm more and more reminded that train travel for most people is a means to an end - and indeed I've noted that the last two publicity 'pieces' we've produced haven't actually included pictures of trains in them at all.  So in that spirit, here are some pictures taken over the last weeks - a lot to do with my Community Rail Work, but no trains.   All in TransWilts 'territory' ... can you work out where they are?

I could take a guess at 2 but I do not know. 

I think number 4 is a location you used in a post very recently.

I think number 5 must be Lacock Abbey

Not so much a quiz - but it's fun to work them out!    Number 5 is indeed Lacock Abbey, between Chippenham and Melksham and reachable during Monday to Saturday daytimes from Chippenham or Melksham on the x34 bus by Faresaver.    Pictured on the occasion of the Great Greyhound Walk - only once a year will you see quite so many greyhounds and other longdogs (and lurchers) there.

No 2 is East side of Bath from the river.

I'd have got Lacock Abbey too if I hadn't been beaten to it.

The first one is indeed the Outlet Centre at Swindon ... but I'm afraid the second one isn't Bath.   Riversides look very much alike, of course ...

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Assuming I was right (and I rather think I was Wink ) in that post, I forgot to offer my sincere thanks to Rolf, who I understand is responsible for that excellent floral display.  I've not seen the planters at Melksham Station this year, but I understand from grahame that they are magnificent.  Smiley
