Go ahead MVR S&T, take the glory! I suspected a few people would know it.

Gartell Light Railway?

Correct.

Surprisingly, bearing in mind I live 5 minutes away in Templecombe, this was my first visit. I moved to Templecombe in May 2019 and didn't get the chance to visit that summer. 2020 and 2021 the GLR didn't open. So this May bank holiday was my first visit. Shoehorned in between dog/house sits in Wiltshire and, where I am now, Cumbria.

More pictures and videos from the Gartell Light Railway to follow, when I get round to it!

Fast forward to July 2024 and it was my turn to visit the Gartell Light Railway for the first time.

A brilliant day in glorious sunshine. The only disappointment was for the Gartell's themselves as there were very few visitors. Chatting to 'Mr G', he was saying that, normally they would be sending off trains completely full, whereas today, I had a coach to myself (well, 'one man and his dog in the coach')

https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/person-struck-train-wagon-private-10159685

A few weeks old, but recording here for the record - and remaining us that even little trains can do big damage to people.

Quote
A person has been hit by a train wagon in Somerset. The person, who was a volunteer member of staff, was seriously injured after being struck near the Common Lane level crossing on the Gartell Light Railway on Thursday, April 17.

The person was hit by the wagon at around 9.35am, the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB (Rail Accident Investigation Branch)) has said. The wagon was part of a train transporting staff, equipment and materials to a work site.
